Junior Pest Investigators “Mission Possible” Class-Project Contest

Win a Junior Pest Investigators Learning Library and a Science-Education Grant for your School.

Attention teachers! Now that you have taught your class of Junior P.I.s to collect evidence about pests and ways to prevent and control them, are you ready to share what your students learned? Tell us how you helped your Junior P.I.s put their new knowledge of pests and IPM into practice and you could win a Junior Pest Investigators Learning Library and a science-education grant for your school!

Entries will be judged on three criteria:

  1. Learning: What specific IPM learning objectives did your project meet? Were your students (vs. parents, teachers or other adults) clearly driving the process?
  2. Creativity: How creative was the project idea and execution? How creatively does your contest entry showcase your class project?
  3. Reach: How did your class project take your students’ IPM learning beyond the classroom? Did it impact other classes or even other schools? Did it impact parents and IPM practices at home? How many people were involved?

Project Ideas

IPM is about using many strategies to help control pests, so be creative about class projects to spread the word about IPM. In Lesson 4, you’ll find some ideas to get you started. See teacher materials for more.
